FAMILY HISTORY

The MOURAVIEFF-APOSTOL-KOROBYINE – THE FAMILY CREST

FAMILY TREE

The blood that courses through my veins is of British and Russian origin though it can be traced to Viking, Slav, Mongolian and perhaps Persian roots. I am attempting to trace all my roots as far as possible and produce a reference work for generations to follow. Any input available from visitors to this page will be welcome. The Family on both the maternal and paternal sides can be traced back well over 600 years. Many ancestors on the paternal side have been integral to the history and development of Russia, particularly the Ukraine, and are remembered to this day. On the paternal side the significant names that make up my heritage are (dates indicated are documented traces researched so far):

  • Apostol 1630 –

  • Khlopov 1795 –

  • Korobyine 1377 –

  • Mouravieff (or Muraviev) 1488 –

  • Mouravieff-Apostol (or Muraviev-Apostol) 1800 –

  • Tereschenko 1795 –

The maternal side finds its roots in Norse origins with the first invasion of the British Isles by the Vikings and their settlements in the Isle of Man. The names associated with this lineage include:

  • Hall 1803 –

  • Caine 1730 –

  • Hall Caine 1853 –

The Russian side

The Russian heritage can perhaps be traced back in several directions to RURIK in the north, GENGHIS KHAN and the Golden Horde in the east, and SELIVAN KITCHI-BEY in the south. Thus, the family tree most probably has roots incorporating the three primary influences on RUSSIA – the Vikings, the Mongols and the Ottomans. The Mouravieff descendancy
